It is a long interview and I’m not even half way through! So this is part 1, where Fung talks about each of his rumoured girlfriends. In part 2, he’ll talk about his real life experiences. Watch out for the later parts in the coming days!

Recently, Fung has appeared on a few radio interviews. The content is quite similar (where he talks about his love life and rumoured girlfriends). I picked this one to translate because I found it quite funny, especially when Kitty is “electrified” by ah Fung! This radio show was aired on 16th August on FM903’s AiShiTeRu, this segment is called “Love Story”. It is hosted by Kitty Yuen Siu Yee & Yu Dik Wai. As I don’t know the male host’s English name I’ve just referred to him as “Host”!

Raymond Lam Fung is 1/16th Spanish and is very popular against TV fans. From “A Taste of Love”, “A Step into the Past”, “Survivors Law”, “Twin of Brothers” to the recent “Moonlight Resonance”, his popularity is only rising not falling. His fans organised fan clubs for him in HK and Mainland China. HK’s club is called Fung Forever, and the one Mainland China is called FMH. Besides TV fans, music fans also like him. The themes and subthemes sang by Fung are very popular and he also received the award for the best selling male newcomer. Also, he’s also attacking the children’s market by singing theme songs for Digital Dinosaur (?) and Masked Superman. So even little kids like him. But out of everyone I think the people who like him the most are the paparazzi because every time Fung films a new series, they will add a rumoured girlfriend for him. His rumoured girlfriends include: Sonija Kwok, Rain Li, Michelle Ye, Tavia Yeung and Charmaine Sheh. His latest rumoured girlfriend is Linda Chung who is also this year’s Olympic Star.


Kitty: Are you that good ar Lam Fung? That many???
Host: Hang on, before Fung was actually quite surprised. He said there were a few in there that didn’t have rumours.
Fung: I don’t know when these rumours came about?
Kitty: Even though these rumoured romances, let’s face it, people never admit to them. The rumour about you (the other host) and me is like that… how could I admit it?
Host: You don’t want to admit it jeh Kitty!
Kitty: But we can talk about each of them…
Fung: When did I have rumours with Sonija?
Kitty: Did you?
Fung: Huh? No really!
Host: You had rumours with many people!
Kitty: I want to clarify for Sonija because I had filmed “D.I.E” with her and we chatted about this. Why does she have so many rumoured romances? Actually she feels too that she’s been hard done by…
Fung: I feel so too….
Kitty: Many newspapers and magazines, don’t know why, are all pointing at her. Every series she will have rumours with her co-star.
Fung: Yeah feel sorry for her… it’s become a habit…
Kitty: And all the bad things are all directed to her….
Host: She has said before that her face (look) can attract these kind of things easily.
Kitty: I said to her – when she doesn’t smile, she looks like she’s angry at everyone because her eyes are big. They’re very striking, very deep. So it looks like she’s mean.
Fung: But the people who know her – knows she’s very nice. She’s super nice…. (hosts agree)

Host: We should talk about Fung….
Kitty: Yeah I strike that one out for you….
Host: Who else do you need to cross out?
Fung: There were rumours with Rain, because we finished filming a movie and then filmed a TV series straight after. So there’s continuity… so it feels like the rumour can go on for a while….
Host: So were they just rumours or were there truth in it?
Fung: How do you mean by truth?
Host: Rumours are rumours….. you know, were you guys real (couple)?
Fung: We’re good friends.
Kitty: But secretly did you feel it would be good if you were dating this girl?
Fung: Didn’t think about it at the time….
Kitty: Because you were too busy…..?
Fung: wahh really when filming…. (inaudible)
Kitty: Rain is a good girl, we’ve worked with her before and she’s a pure, and a girly girl.
Fung: hmm yeah she is a good girl…
Kitty: Unlike me who’s a boyish girl.
Host: So let’s talk about amongst all these rumoured girlfriends who is not a good girl? Since you guys are analysing their personality.
Kitty: Well “not a good girl” doesn’t mean bad girls! Let’s be clear about this.

Host: So what about Michelle Ye?
Fung: I’ve worked with Michelle… 3 times. During filming there weren’t any rumours so don’t know why it suddenly came out. Is it because they need another one to compile it to a list?
Kitty: Usually it is… the family tree is very big so it creates more talking points…
Fung: Why does it have to be so big?

Host: Nothing from all these girls….
Fung: Yeah, I’ve known Tavia for almost 10 years. We were in the same TVB acting class. So if they want to create rumours they should’ve been around much earlier.
Kitty: Now Tavia is Chris Lai’s….
Host: Really?
Kitty: Yeah a magazine photographed them together in a car…
Host: These magazines are for people like Kitty to read lor!
Fung: Chris is quite good friends with a lot of the female colleagues. (all laughs)
Kitty: Actually yeah.. I want to say Chris has invited me to play badminton before because I always say “Wei when you play badminton you introduced these people and they become couples! When will I play with you??” And then he said, “Well you can come too lor! We play every week…”
Fung: He’s very popular with the female colleagues because he’s very nice and very cute (personality wise!)
Kitty: Yeah… he’s super nice.
Fung: Yeah I always say - “I always lose to you”.

Host: OK…. ah Sheh? Charmaine Sheh…
Fung: Worked with Charmaine…. hrm… if I remember correctly, 2 or 3 times as well, at least twice.
Host: We’re just talking about the rumoured romance….
Fung: There weren’t any rumours during filming, because when you’re really spreading the rumour you spread it during filming. You work together for so many months, with so many pairs of eyes watching and there weren’t any rumours so that means nothing is happening.
Kitty: There weren’t any rumours during filming, and then they start once the series airs. Is it because the series need promotion?
Fung: Yeah doesn’t matter, treat it like promoting the series.
Kitty: OK…..

Host: So in this list we keep crossing off names and now we’re left with Linda Chung and Rain Li.
Fung: Yeah..
Kitty: Linda is the rumour now right?
Fung: Huh? What? Yeah it’s rumoured now…
Host: So many rumours and not even one with a bit of truth?
Fung: For entertainment purposes, we just read it like entertainment.
Kitty: More exposure…

Host: Before Fung said there were also rumours with Myolie Wu.
Fung: Yeah one time when we were filming “Survivors Law”, I remember we were at Happy Valley filming some outdoor scenes. Myolie, the director, the assistant director and I went to have lunch. After lunch I had to buy a leash for my dog that day so we went to the pet store to buy it. Myolie went into the store with us because there were many cute dogs there. When we walked out they took a photo so we’re a “couple”….
Kitty: Turned into “going into the pet store together”….
Fung: Yeah… dating.
Host: Kitty is useless lor…. nobody takes a photo of her going into the pet store….
Kitty: Well I need to be with ah Fung!
Fung: Nah there’re many in the Happy Valley area….
Host: Kitty, they’re all at least half or two heads taller than you!
Kitty: I’m not thinking about fighting with them… I know I’m definitely going to lose…
Host: When they take the photo the photo will only have Fung’s head, so what’s the point?
Kitty: (laughs) So next time we shouldn’t go to the pet store together, we should go to a restaurant. When we sit at the restaurant the level is better….
Host: Even in a restaurant you need to sit on a yellow pages!
Kitty: So sad, so Fung and I won’t have any rumours.

Host: Let’s not talk about the rumours. Fung, tell us about your real love stories….
Kitty: Yeah is your love life quite exciting?
Fung: I wish it was exciting…
Kitty: No way….!!!
Fung: Actually I remember… before I filmed “Heart of Greed” many producers said to me, “ah Fung, actually your acting skills in many different situations are quite ok. But you’re quite weak in portraying love relationships.” I admit this, I said I don’t know why in this area my performance can’t go as far.
Host: So you mean you don’t have the experience…
Fung: Yeah it’s true.
Host: Because when we talked about this before we went on air, after you entered the entertainment industry you’re always working.
Fung: I’m very lucky, actually from when I started to now I’ve filmed series after series. If I say I don’t want to be in a relationship. That will be a lie. I really want to date, I will also meet some girls who I like. I’ll meet girls who I think I would like to get to know more of. But usually before you even get to know them you would cut it off because you don’t have the time, you don’t have the energy.
Host: During this long time have you met girls who are stuck on you? Like you can’t get rid of? e.g. Oh so you’re busy… doesn’t matter! I’ll wait! Even if you finish work at 4am I’ll wait! Do these types of girls still exist?
Kitty: Maybe they love you very much…
Fung: I don’t like people who are such a bother…
Host: But do they exist?
Fung: Do I have them? But if it gets to that stage you’re already together.
Host: So completely blocked off… if we were to talk about your past loves they’ll be before the time you entered the entertainment industry.

Host: So completely blocked off… if we were to talk about your past loves they’ll be before the time you entered the entertainment industry.

Fung: Yeah. When I was studying…
Kitty: When you were studying… was your love life exciting back then?
Fung: Not really… only once.
Kitty: HUUUUUHHHHH? One and only one?
Fung: Yeah. A real relationship which lasted for a period of time, yeah really, once.
Host: How long were you together?
Fung: That time….. it was for about 2 to 3 years.
Kitty: How old were you then?
Fung: Actually it started off with me secretly liking her, but actually the first time I tried to chase a girl was a failure.

Kitty: Doesn’t matter! Many people are the same…
Fung: So after that time I don’t have much confidence.
Host: Was that the first/second time?
Fung: I studied in an all boys school, the first time I wanted to chase that girl she was my primary schoolmate. We were in the same primary school.
Host: Which year of primary school?
Fung: Hrm.. no. We were classmates but only developed feelings during high school…
Kitty: then you have feelings for her…
Fung: Yeah. During Form 5 we all went out for a reunion, and all the classmates would meet.
Kitty: That’s understandable since you were in an all boys school for a few years by then…
Host: During Form 4, Form 5 is when you have hair and facial hair that kind of stuff….
Kitty: Also possible that you have some friends who are dating already and you’re not. Boys might be more competitive, “I’m better looking than you, how would I not have a girlfriend too!!” Then you would search through the girls you know…
Fung: Not searching deliberately… because we all went out to meet, going back and visit our primary school teachers…. then we would all go to, back then there was already karaoke. We would sing etc.. after seeing her a few times there were starting to be some sparks… maybe it was only on one side.
Kitty: But this girl, during primary school, was she outstanding? Is she the prefect?
Fung: She was the prefect….
Kitty: Ahhhhh guessed right, BINGO! Why does every guy secretly likes the prefect?
Fung: Yeah, don’t know why.
Kitty: Yeah it’s true.
Host: Want to conquer the woman in power… a little bit of that.
Fung: Not really… usually the prefect is quite a good girl…
Host: And then what happened, you secretly liked her……
Fung: Not sure why, if it’s because I was in a boys school and don’t have much contact with girls, I was really nervous when I see girls. Like sweating in the palm of my hands, don’t know what to say…
Kitty: Did you ask her out alone?
Fung: No, didn’t ask her, too afraid. Just went to all the karaoke or dinner gatherings… and then some of my friends knew about it, so they said I should accompany her home. So when we got to her house, it was a rare opportunity so I just had to take it. I forgot what I said at the time….
Host: Ai ya!!!!
Kitty: Do you know we’re waiting to hear it!!?
Host: That line you don’t remember??!!
Fung: Let me think about it….
Kitty: So roughly, what did you say?
Fung: hrm…. roughly….
Kitty: What was that moment like?
Fung: Said I really like you that sort of thing….
Kitty: Did you hold her hand…?
Fung: Of course not! Never held her hand…
Host: Probably too afraid to…
Fung: Yeah..
Kitty: So you said “I really like you prefect girl.” (laughs)
Fung: Something like that….
Host: Or will you be my girlfriend?
Fung: I won’t be that straightforward, just “I like you…”
Host: “I like you” is not straightforward?
Kitty: Yeah just say you like her and don’t need to be together (boy/girlfriends).
Fung: Didn’t say that we should go out (chinese = pak tor), need to see her reaction first. But….
Kitty: What did she do?
Fung: She indirectly rejected me….
Kitty: What did she say?
Fung: I forgot!!!
Kitty: I’m just scared that you might’ve missed something! Because sometimes when girls say no, it might mean yes.
Fung: Really?
Kitty: Of course!
Host: Kitty knows a lot about these things.
Kitty: Because firstly – did the girl go to an all girls or co-ed high school?
Fung: An all girls high school.
Kitty: Yep, actually your situation and her situation is the same. During Form 1 to Form 3 she wouldn’t have guys chasing her… but the problem is, she probably thinks - why would I accept you straight away? If she accepts you she will be afraid that you might think less of her. (What kind of girl does he think I am?)
Host: Usually they’ll answer those…
Kitty: Confusing answers….
Host: Should study first….
Kitty: Yeah. And confusing like “let me think about it” etc… (Fung laughs) You missed it! Otherwise the prefect and you can have a happy life.
Host: Were you really hurt by it? First time wor…
Fung: Very hurt ga… because at the time I was still a silly kid.
Host: Did you see her again? Go to karaoke?
Fung: No, but later on, actually even now we have old classmates meetings…..
Host: Chance to rekindle….
Fung: No la…. maybe now she already has a boyfriend…..
Kitty: Fight for her lor! You should have confidence….
Host: Why don’t you just ask first?
Kitty: Yeah but he can say something like, “ahh… you have a lot of spare time, don’t you need to spend it with your boyfriend?” And then she’ll say, “I don’t have a boyfriend….”
Fung: Haven’t seen her in many years, don’t know what she looks like now….

Host: So what about your first relationship?
Fung: That one was my classmate.
Host: In high school?
Fung: No at university… we knew each other before university, in the beginning we talked on the phone, wrote letters to each other. Yep, that’s it.

Fung: Yeah, like that. I’ve never talked so much about my love life before…
Kitty: We still have over half an hour, what do we do?
Fung: I still have a lot to say.
Host: We haven’t asked the questions which Siu Yan Jeh will ask…
Kitty: OK we’ll let you have a rest first, listen to your song and relax. Later on, we’ll keep digging into your past!
Host: He actually has that shy, embarrassed look! Crazy!
Kitty: Are Fung’s fans worried about him? In our hands, he’ll definitely be finished!

Kitty: OK.. back to something precious, the first puppy love.
Host: Need to talk about Fung’s sweet relationship no matter what.
Fung: Yeah.. hrm…
Kitty: How did you chase her? Before you said you knew each other in high school….
Fung: Hrm… how did I chase her… hrm… actually in the beginning we were purely like penpals.
Kitty: Ahh? From penpals?
Fung: Yeah, can say it developed normally, then we would go out and meet….
Kitty: Did you see her photo before meeting her?
Fung: HUH?
Kitty: Like did you ask her to give you her photo…?
Fung: Not “penpals”…
Host: They already know each other!
Kitty: Ahhh!! I thought they only knew each other as penpals!
Host: They wrote to each other! Be smarter! Don’t be too caught up la Kitty! Need to bring you back to reality….
Kitty: ok ok ok… so you finally meet… but haven’t confirmed whether you’re boy/girlfriends…
Host: Not finally meet! They’ve already met!
Kitty: I mean they both want to go out and meet…
Fung: We would go to movies together, have meals…
Host: So just like dating… because you’ve been writing to each other for so long you already know what’s happening.
Kitty: But not asking her whether she’ll be your girlfriend?
Fung: Actually I did, there was a moment where I asked, “Can you be my girlfriend?”
Kitty: hmmm… hmmmmm
Host: Before Fung was saying this while looking directly at Kitty! Kitty would accept immediately! That look she has on her face….!! (all laughs)
Kitty: That saying goes you need to do the hard work… in other occupations there’s this hard work, for me this is already doing the hard work lor!
(Kitty referred to a Chinese saying which I’m not 100% sure on what it actually means!)
Host: She was so involved in it, so natural!
Kitty: If you didn’t say anything, no one will know!!
Host: This scene is so funny! And then what happened….?
Kitty: Just don’t fight with me to say “hmmmm….hmmm” later…
Host: Fung didn’t say it to me!
Kitty: Don’t scare him!
Fung: I forgot where I was up to…
Kitty: “Can you be my girlfriend?” - like that.
Host: (inaudible) see a movie (??)
Fung: No there’s no need…
Kitty: What are you so scared about? You need some training!
Fung: (keeps laughing) my stomach is aching. Then in a shy manner, she said, “hm yes ok”.
Host: That is a very happy moment.
Fung: I was really really really happy. That was my first relationship.
Kitty: But how long did it develop for? It was mysterious… and then finally, you said it.
Fung: For over a year….
Kitty: Wahhh…
Host: This is so sweet, when the tension reaches the highest point and then you succeeded with one sentence.
Fung: Yeah because I was rejected before, I was scared that one sentence will destroy this relationship.
Host: Fung, have you noticed that guys need that confirmation? So you guys met, wrote to each other, meet, have meals and went to the movies, then it gets to that point where you need to confirm. Like if you don’t sign the contract it doesn’t feel like it’s real. But girls might not care about it.
Kitty: No wor! I feel that girls has a greater desire to confirm. Because, like from my friends’ experiences, without the confirmation the guy might just feel you’re a good female friend of his….
Fung: Actually, both guys and girls want to confirm….
Kitty: If you don’t confirm the guy suddenly tells you, “wei, I’m dating so and so.”
Host: But this is such a brave act from Fung because he had failed before. If he bravely said it and then the girl replied, “let’s be friends” and you’ll be finished…
Fung: Then I’ll be really hurt again.
Kitty: But I believe when he said it he’s pretty sure the girl will say yes.
Fung: Actually from observing during our day to day lives, going out to eat…
Kitty: Talking on phone everyday…
Fung: Yeah talking on the phone for hours..
Kitty: Has to be!
Host: Some people will choose not to say this confirmation yet, then when seeing a movie he would suddenly hold her hand, that type….
Kitty: Like the old fashioned way, holding her hand when crossing the road…
Host: Yeah, like that… in this case you’re braver.
Fung: This type is too dramatic I think. Plus at that moment you might not have the courage to do it.
Kitty: Would rather say it…
Fung: I’m not that brave…
Host: Ok she accepts…. and then…? Did you hold her hand?
Kitty: What happened that night?
Host: Hold hands? Not that far ahead yet.
Fung: Hold her hand… then hug her.
Kitty: Did you know how to hug? You haven’t hugged a girl before… you might suffocate her.
Host: How could a guy not know how to hug a girl?
Kitty: Wait… I have something to say…
Fung: It will feel unnatural.
Kitty: Need to say something because I’ve been to Christmas balls, some guys you can feel they don’t know how to hug a girl.
Fung: No, won’t suffocate her, the height is just right….
Host: I didn’t say that line, Fung…
Fung: I’m so sorry! Sorry!
Kitty: I’m not saying anything more. (Fung is still apologising) I was going to talk about my experience in Christmas balls but I won’t say it anymore. (Kitty pretends to be mad, but laughs again.)
Host: Hugging is like an instinct, will know how to.
Kitty: No there’re some like they’ll strangle you, a bear hug…
Fung: No… won’t happen.

Host: OK then sweetly you guys started a relationship. Holdings hands… so you gave her your first kiss?
Fung: Yeah.
Host: Did you know how to kiss?
Fung: Of course I didnt’ know! If I knew then it wouldn’t be a “first kiss”!
Kitty: I want to ask, were you her first boyfriend?
Fung: Yeah.
Kitty: Aiya! First time for both of you….
Host: Then you can both discover the process of this first kiss….
Fung: It was very very romantic.. we were both learning through every step.
Kitty: Aiya… this one is very good.
Fung: So I think it’s very sweet….
Host: So this whole story, from the confirmation to holding hands to the kiss etc etc, you need to put it in a cupboard and occasionally reminisce because you haven’t had another girlfriend since.
Fung: Haven’t had the chance since entering the entertainment industry….
Host: This is like a living widower….
Kitty: CHOIII!!! (what the Chinese will say when someone says unlucky things!) You’re the living widower…
Host: Have many goods here!
Kitty: Too bad your goods have been stuck in the warehouse for a long time! (all laughs)

Kitty: So this was the first time for you both, puppy love, there must’ve been many romantic moments, like the first Valentine’s Day, the first Christmas, how did you arrange them? Did you deliberately create a really romantic atmosphere to give to her?

Fung: Actually.. hmmm… really what can a student do?
Kitty: But those are always the most romantic…
Fung: I’ll save… at that time I didn’t have much money, so I will skip meals to save money, to buy a gift for her. Like the cheap rings…
Kitty: Bracelets etc?
Fung: No… didn’t buy that much.
Kitty: Did you make some silly things for her?
Fung: Er… handmade… about 10 years ago making dried flowers was quite popular, so I’ve tried to make it before.
Host: Yeah.. hang it backwards at home, then it dries, put it in a vase….
Kitty: and gave them to her…
Fung: Yeah, of course you need to decorate them a bit.
Host: So you were in the same university?
Fung: Yeah.
Host: Were you guys good students?
Fung: Ok la, actually it was a good thing because we can support each other. Plus we can study together, so happy.
Kitty: So your relationship lasted for around 3 years?
Host: Separated after graduation?
Fung: I haven’t graduated yet…. I came back to HK to work in the entertainment industry. It was too difficult.
Host: What happened to her?
Fung: Continued to study lor….
Kitty: Why did you guys break up?
Host: Need to sign contract with TVB lor!
Kitty: Yeah, TVB said – you can’t have a girlfriend!
Fung: No that wasn’t the reason. TVB didn’t force me but it was because long distance relationship is really hard to maintain.
Kitty: So when you came back you tried to keep the relationship going….
Fung: Yeah. But we both understand….
Host: Why did you come back so quickly and didn’t finish your studies?
Fung: Hmmmm…
Host: Caught cheating and then expelled?
Fung: Of course not!
Kitty: Don’t apply your stuff to other people la!
Fung: If you get caught cheating that’s pretty sad…
Host: I had a classmate who was expelled after he was caught… already studied for 3 years. (back to the topic)
Fung: The reason… hmmm… the opportunity came up and I felt I can give it a try so luckily I chose the right path.
Kitty: Otherwise you will regret it so much.
Fung: Yeah, but you need a decision so can’t help it.
Kitty: But why didn’t you try having both things at once?
Fung & Host: Long distance is very difficult….
Kitty: But the problem is you entered this industry, you’re really busy… so that’s good! I think that’s a good thing.
Fung: Us guys have the ability to not think too much but girls can’t. She’ll think about lots of things.
Host: She’ll call you, called you 8 times already and you don’t answer, she’ll think something happened to you but actually you were working… what can you do?
Fung: Yeah, even without the distance, if we were in the same place and I work in this industry, it’s still be very difficult. She’ll think – are you that busy? But I’m really that busy!
Kitty: Yeah I know, I’ve seen people working long hours….
Fung: And we can’t even talk for a little bit because the cameras are rolling.
Host: So did she come back to HK after graduating?
Fung: Nope.
Host: So she’s still overseas.
Fung: Yeah.
Host: Have you seen her over the years?
Fung: Actually we haven’t been in much contact, yeah.
Host: Sounds like there was some sadness in this….
Kitty: Are you too afraid to contact her? Or….
Fung: Er…. a little afraid.
Kitty: Because you broke up with her?
Fung: Not really, no one really suggested we should break up, we just naturally…..
Host: We don’t have anything to say in the next part of the show…. his love life is already fully exposed. This can end…
Fung: We can talk about my hopes for the future! I have many hopes…
Kitty & Host: Good suggestion.
Host: In the next segment we’ll talk about Fung’s hopes for the future…

Kitty: So sad, up until this moment the host and Fung are still laughing about that moment when I was electrified by Fung…
Host: Rather unfortunate everyone couldn’t see it… but anyway.. forget the past and work hard for the future. Let’s see what the future holds for Fung…
Fung: For the future… hrmmm… I do hope that I can have a relationship in HK, I haven’t dated anyone in HK.
Host: HK girls… Kitty is here…
Kitty: Yeah I can represent…
Fung: Hrm… I will fantasise being able to publicly reveal a relationship, holding hands and do some normal things, I’m already satisfied. Maybe walking along the sea, watching a movie, eating meals… that’s already great.
Kitty: If you do have a girlfriend will you publicly reveal it?
Fung: I won’t.
Kitty: Why? Since you’ve said you want to do those things…
Fung: Because so far I don’t even dare to think about it, really need to put work as the number 1 priority.

Kitty: Yeah like Roger Kwok, from getting married, having a baby, they’ve revealed everything….
Fung: Hrm… not deliberately reveal to the public, just be natural. Because you’re a public figure you’ll become a talking point.
Host: Yeah I understand because as a public figure, if you announce it, or someone else finds out…. after you admit it you don’t know how much pressure there is going to be.
Fung: Yeah this is something you must weigh up…
Host: They’re hard to predict…
Fung: Because those things, if it’s revealed then a lot of things will connect themselves to the other person, including everything in your own work and will affect the other person.
Kitty: Yeah for example you’re dating, and you have rumours with Linda Chung…. suddenly it becomes a triangle relationship. Making everything even more messy.
Fung: This will cause misunderstandings where people will think the entertainment industry is messy. So there’re two sides to it…
Host: It’s not messy?
Fung: Of course not!
Kitty: Actually I don’t really know…
Host: You wouldn’t know this kinds of things! They never connect those news to you…
Kitty: Have you heard any gossip? Is it messy?
Fung: I don’t think so… actually in this industry, especially in television, the girls who know how to act normally has boyish personality. They’re quite boyish, you can see all the “fa dans” are like guys, including Linda, actually she has a boyish personality too.
Kitty: In this industry you need to be strong….
Fung: Her voice deceived you….
Host: Will she say “Lam Fung, DRINK IT!” - like that?
Fung: Not like that… she’s decisive, and won’t go back and forth.
Host: Yeah I think she’s quite easygoing too.
Fung: So she’s not as weak as people might think…
Host: Just joking jeh, actually people outside the industry thinks it’s complicated etc, but that’s not true. It has never been like this.
Fung: Actually before I entered the industry I feared for what I was getting myself into, what is this industry like? But afterwards I thought, pfftt it’s not like that!
Kitty: Yeah actually it’s just like any other job. (Fung agrees) The thing that is different to those who work as clerks or driver etc is our work is publicly exposed. And everyone wants to watch it.
Fung: Because for us a lot of things are more transparent, so everyone will know more about different types of things.
Host: So no one invites you to yum cha with those rich ladies?
Fung: Huh?
Host: After so long… no one has invited you to yum cha with those rich ladies?
Fung: No wor… because I have many relatives, many “aunties”….
Kitty: Need to take care of them would take a while…

Host: You’ve been back to HK working for so many years, there had been so many potentials, have you tried?
Fung: Hmm…. tried..?
Host: Was there a time you were tempted?
Fung: Yeah actually every year I might meet one or two whom I think “ah!”
Kitty: One or two every year, that’s pretty good!
Fung: Yeah… because…. maybe haven’t had one for so long…
Host: You get out of control…
Kitty: I feel Fung is even drier than me.
Host: He suddenly thinks he’s had a hard time… why do I have to be alone?

Fung: Not bored but then both your work and home lives are all in the same world.
Host: When you were young, was your school close to your home? Or did you have to catch transport?
Fung: Huh?
Host: Did you walk to school or need to catch transport?
Fung: My school was nearby, but I still needed to go to Central first and then go there….
Host: This is a personality test I’ve read in a book, if your school is close to home when you were growing up – like that’s how you went to school from year 1 to year 6, when you grow up and start work, you would want to be further from home. This applies to love as well, you’ll want someone from outside the industry…
Fung: Yeah, but finally in the last couple of years I’ve given up on it.
Host: Yeah if there’s someone it doesn’t matter where they come from! Don’t care!
Kitty: Don’t be so pessimistic! You have the looks and everything else! If you’re so pessimistic, then I should be worse! Plus in HK there’re more girls than guys, so you don’t need to be scared.

Fung: But I don’t have a chance to meet people on the outside….
Kitty: We can host a single party for you!
Fung: Ah! Really? Sounds good!
Kitty: Yeah, have a single party…
Host: We’re already having one today! I’m having a party for both of you! If you two don’t exchange phone numbers it’s not my fault! I’ve already done my best.
Kitty: Good! Ok Fung, let’s pretend this is a single party, we’re just meeting each other.
Host: Don’t need to be so straightforward Kitty…..
Kitty: What do we need to know about each other…?
Host: She’s really trying to get the most out of this… (laughs) be more humble la!
Kitty: I’ve been to these types of single parties so I have a few questions….
Host: You’ve been?
Kitty: Yeah, some friends organised them.
Fung: So is everyone at the table single?
Kitty: Everyone at the party is single….
Fung: So what happens, do they all just look at each other….
Kitty: Everyone has a few minutes to chat, say for example there are 15 guys and 15 girls, all single and come from different backgrounds. Everyone will be introduced, through some games to get to know them a little bit, then the most nerve racking part, the girls will sit on one side, each have their own space, the guys will start… (I think this is speed dating!)
Fung: She sounds quite excited….
Kitty: Yeah, at the start, let’s say, I’m facing you. You might have 2 minutes to chat with me. Then I’ll keep a score, and Fung, you can also keep a score. So after 2 minutes, the next person will come up to my table and chat to me….
Host: This game is quite good….
Kitty: Yeah….

Fung: No, actually… what I’m talking about is………hm…. I have many fantasies, sometimes when I’m walking on the street I might see someone and think, “Ah..”
Kitty: Beautiful girl wor….
Fung: No… the feeling, but actually those are really superficial. But for something a little deeper, say in a working environment, you meet a friend’s friend, you might say hi and talk for a little, then you’ll think “Ah…. the feeling she gives you is quite comfortable.” So would want to get to know her a little more….

Kitty: Take it slowly….

Kitty: We can just ignore him… I don’t mind if you’re busy. I’m busy and you’re busy… we can exchange numbers, are you free tonight?? (The host keeps talking on top of her… Kitty goes on “chatting up” Fung.. Fung keeps laughing…)
