Epic Documentary and Film 'Phags-pa' to Screen
A documentary and an epic film 'Phags-pa', a distinguished Tibetan Buddhism master, will screen at the end of this year. This film helps to attest that Tibet is an indivisible part of China.
China News Service reported on Friday that conference on this production was held in Beijing recently. Officials from the United Front Work Department, State Council, experts on Tibetology, history and religion and other departments attended the discussion and offered many suggestions.
'Phags-pa' includes a ten-episode TV documentary and an epic biography film. The TV documentary will reproduce the history when Phags-pa lived during the Yuan Dynasty and the outstanding images of Phags-pa and Sa-pan-kun-dgav-rgyal-mtshan, two great masters of a Buddhism sect in Tibet named Sa-skya-pa, which shows Tibet has been part of China since 700 years ago with undeniable historic facts.
The film is based on historical achievements and the charm of Phags-pa. With proper adaptation, the film shows the great contributions of Chinese ancient sages to the world civilization and the diverse Chinese history and culture.
Phags-pa is the first teacher for emperors during the Yuan Dynasty. He came from Sa-skya Monastery of Tibet, the mother monastery of the Buddhism sect Sa-skya-pa. He was titled by Emperor Kubilai as the chief minister. He also created Phags-pa Script, a new phonetic Mongolian official script.
Phags-pa made great contributions to the integration of the Chinese nation. With the efforts from Sa-pan-kun-dgav-rgyal-mtshan and him, Tibet was unified and was then blended with Mongolian and Han nationalities becoming a part of China.
