Bobby Au Yeung Is The Friendly Face Of Mannings

Hong Kong's largest health and beauty retail chain Mannings (萬寧) began celebrations for their 35th anniversary by inviting Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華) to star in their latest set of TV ads, which were filmed this evening in the store at Tai Koo Place in Quarry Bay.

A Mannings representative explained that they chose Bobby to represent them because he as a happy, friendly and healthy image and is a professional actor. He is also a long-term supporter of Mannings and is viewed by many members of the public as an old friend. This reflects how Mannings has been an old friend on the high street to the public of Hong Kong, so he was the first choice when the original marketing concept was drawn up.

Bobby agreed: "I am quite picky when it comes to selecting advertisement jobs, so I have to agree with the principles before I accept the job. Since I was a boy in my teens up to now when I have my own family, I have always shopped at Mannings for my day-to-day products and so my relationship with the company is like that of old friends. They have always taken care of my daily needs, so when I was asked to film this ad for the company, it was like lending a hand to an old friend and it felt very warm and sincere. It immediately clicked."

Although the shoot continued through the night, Bobby did not seem tired at all and often shared stories of his childhood with the staff and crew, telling of how he used to love eating Wintex Tong Candy Derps (花塔餅) [a traditional children's indigestion remedy] and drinking gripe water when he was young. Bobby said he was very happy with the job and he hopes that there will be a chance to work with them again for the next anniversary. The ads will be aired in Hong Kong next month.
