Lydia Sum Back In Intensive Care

Reports broke today that Lydia Sum (沈殿霞) was back in hospital after rumours that she had lost consciousness once again. Lydia's daughter Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜) appeared at the Queen Mary Hospital at around 9pm, accompanied by family friend Chan Ka Ho (陳家豪) and asked about her mother's condition, she said that her mother was in good spirits and was eating and drinking fine. She revealed that Lydia had been admitted into hospital yesterday evening and was being treated in the intensive care unit. Asked whether or not Lydia had been admitted again because she was unconscious, Joyce indicated that she did not want to say too much.

Lydia's consultant Dr Lo had been cornered by press earlier in the day, but he was very professional and did not speak about her condition. When pressed to reveal details of Lydia's condition, he thanked everyone for their concern, but insisted that she has not given consent to him to discuss these matters, but he will try his best to help her.

Close family friend Florence Chan (陳淑芬) was asked how Lydia had been recently and when it was mentioned about how much weight Lydia has lost, Mrs Chan said that this could not be helped, because she is diabetic and has reduced her food intake greatly, so losing weight is only natural. She added that Lydia will not be going to watch Jacky Cheung (張學友) in concert because it is outdoors and she is afraid of the wind aggrevating her health.
