Lydia Sum Is Making Good Progress

Lydia Sum Is Making Good Progress
Lydia Sum (沈殿霞) spent a second night in hospital yesterday and the media were camped outside the Queen Mary Hospital waiting for updates about her condition.
There had been rumours through the day that Lydia had been moved out of intensive care into a private room, but when good friend Deborah Lee (狄波拉) joined Lydia's daughter, Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜) and Maggie Lee (李琳琳) to visit at around 5pm, she emerged looking quite sombre.
Soon afterwards, Lydia's consultant, Professor Chung-mau Lo (盧寵茂) appeared from the room and indicated to the press that her condition has stabilised and she has been moved to a private recovery room. Asked if she was unable to recognise faces, he said that this is not the case because she has left the intensive care unit. He added that she is much better now and thanked the press for their concern. As for when she will be ready to go home, Prof. Lo refused to say any more.
Lydia's elder sister also visited her in the evening and when asked about Lydia's condition, she said that she should be able to go home after a few more days rest. Quizzed further about Lydia's appetite, her sister said that it has improved and they have made her soup.
