What do you think about hybrid cars?
I'm thinking about buying a Hybrid car but I have only read info about them from the auto makers site. I would like to know the opinions of Hybrid car owners.

depends on your reason for getting a hybrid
if you think you're gonna save money on gas you'd be slightly wrong
it ends up costing the same with all the initial extra costs of hybrids, plus the replacement costs for the batteries are really expensive... a new battery is like $5000... that's a lot of gas
but if you imaging you're helping save the environment... you'd be a little more justified... but you have to be driving quite a lot to be making a difference... but every little bit helps

theyre a good idea, but they just havent reached that stage where they make that big of a difference in terms of saving money.

i agree, hybrids are good for the environment but at this stage are not economically better off. read somewhere that you needed to drive 100,000 miles just to break even on the amount you save on gas compared to how much more expensive it is, thats assuming the battery lasts

Is good for everything. But I rather will like a gasoline operated vehicle. Hybrid cars saves lot of money on gas however, after 10yrs/100k miles. If the battery goes dead, it will be very expensive to replace. I will want a hybrid is just that they are expensive and designs are not my type. There are real electric cars out there, like ZAP or some other China brand. Those are good for local street use.

Hey i was thinking about getting a new hybrid car too. I have test driven the Toyota and the new Nissan one too. Both, are nice, just can't decide on which one to get.
