Anyone have a 98 esclipe radio key code?

Hi, does anyone owns a 98 esclipe? My battery died and the radio goes into locked mode and I don't have the key code. Dealer wants to charge me USD78 plus tax just to give it to me. (well, they said they had to take the radio out to find out the serial #. I think this is a scam to make money. I read online that you only need the vin# and they will tell you over the phone.) If anyone has any key code to any mitsubishi, I would like to try it. Thanks!!

You are incorrect. Most of the time it is either the VIN or Serial # of the radio in order to get the radio code. I work on cars for a living so trust me. Dealership is not trying to scam you. Only way is, complaint to Mitsubishi or go for a aftermarket radio.

I have read more forum messages yesterday about the radio code and found out that 1-888-Mitsubishi will give me the radio code if I have the VIN#, radio Serial# and model#. OK... now if I only take the radio out and find the code... thanks eurorocket for your help.
