We eat rice because it's been a tradition since god knows when. Probably lots and lots of years ago, it started in Asia but everyone grew rice because that's what they made money out of etc. you know? Okay, I'm explaining nonsense now -_- But it's probably the same reason why westerners eat potatoes, because it's what they can grow.

you know...eating rice is terrible actually. a bunch of empty carbs. and to think, most asians have diabetes. anyway, dont eat too much rice, like bowl after bowl. thats not too healthy. i stayed off white rice for a long time and i have lost quite a lot of pounds. i used to eat like 3-4 bowls each nite, now just a single bowl. when i eat out, i never order rice plate or even bother to eat a bowl of rice.

Waaaaaaay back in the day, rice was the main crop of China. It was also a food that fulled your stomach up for a reasonable price. So the poor seeked rice as the main source for food. Eventually it carried on to the present where rice is considered the asian food.

Because in the asian countries we mostly have rice crops

I'm Asian, but I also don't understand why Asians like to eat rice a lot. Probably because it was passed on from older generations. Before, Asians didn't have a lot of stuff to eat, so mainly they eat rice.

for Asian culture, our primary intake is rice ........ it has been the tradition for generations .....

I think that in asian the tradition side dish is rice... because you can only reap it in this country (in the early century)
and in the other continent you can reap potatoes like USA or Europe and now this is the tradition side dish...
