Default problem with international google search engine?

today whenever I put in www.google.ie (lreland's google) or google.com, the url address in the address bar changed to google.de which is Google Deutschland (Germany) and it's in German.

If i click on google.com in english (at the bottom) it stays in german and if i click to set my prefernces to english, it says operation aborted and shuts down. I have the same ip address (an Irish one). It never went like that before. anyone know what might be wrong with it? thanks
it's only google that opens in german, everything comes up in english and my settings are already english (Ireland).

Make sure your Windows language options have not changed from English. Go to Start ---> Control Panel ---> Date, Time, Language & Regional Options ---> Regional and Language Options. Make sure they are set to your region.

I just tried google.ie and it works fine.
