the concept of router is to share your internet connection amongst multiple computers
there are wired and wireless router

I use wired router instead of wireless. I have four computers side by side in my living room. My router has four port and it all connect to the computer.

wow.. 4 computers side by side?? u use all by urself?? my house is using a wireless one.. but there r 8 ports..

8 ports router? or 8 computers? i don't know of any home routers that have 8 ports =/

wahh 4 computers along the wall.. damn your front room must be massive LOL but isnt it a bit "maa fan" having wires all over the place.. i just have a router with 4 ports.. one computer is connected to it by wires.. & i got two other computers & 1 laptop connected to the router wirelessly..

i have wireless router. 4 ports can be wired to it. and as many as you want for wireless. routers share internet connection among other computers. some routers have internal firewall and it generates its own IP address to each computer connected to it.

router works in 3 layer of TCP/IP Modell, you use router to connect subnet,or segment of network. it works with TCP/ IP nummber.
