SONY has finally won one!

After a 2 huge failures (first was betamax for video tapes and the other was the mini disk) to stake a claim in the industry, Sony's finally won the battle of the next generation high capacity disk storage with their bluray technology.

So anyone of you fortunate or unfortunate enough to have HD-DVD players or media at yr place? What are you planning to do with this already obsolete player/disks?

i think they only won because of the ps3. if another console using hd dvd then hd dvd might of stood a chance.

yeah, I've read many blogs claiming that the PS3 made the breakthrough.

Sony was offering a free PS3 for every(?) Sony Bravia LCD bought, that might have been one of the factors as well.

They were bound to win anyway half the people didn't even know that HD-DVDs existed...since Blu-Ray came out first thats my guess anyway.

btw another console did use HD-DVD (still does) Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 has about double the PS3 sales. Oh and i know you have to by the HD-DVD drive separately.

But they are getting expensive due to they are competing with DVD and On Demand content.

Blu Ray is really not as good as expected.
