I am amazed because The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende was the ONLY English book I liked .... EVER !!!! It was one of those books that you are required to read during a particular unit and I simply fell in love with it. It is quite confusing because Allende uses a lot of techniques and talks a lot about politics in the history of Chile.
BUT!
It has a lot of other themes like love and relationships between the Del Valle family and the Trueba family. It is a book of magical realism. Even though it can get a little confusing, but it's a really really really good book .. in my opinion and I want to recommend it to you guys. It may get a little weird and disturbing at parts BUT the love and chemistry is just so interesting.
My three favorite characters from the book are Blanca, Pedro Tercero Garcia, and Alba.
Amazing isn't it ? I've never in my life liked any books that my school assigns so hehe.
I remember reading that book in high school. The only reason I read it was because it had magical realism, but I have to admit it is a good book. Good recommendation to others.
