For my own opinion. I would perfer common-law relationship rather than marriage. If you two are happy, who care about the paper. Once you two don't love each other anymore, you can just separate without all kind of divorse procedure. Make life easier.

i think the paper is important since it makes it legally official. it definitely feels more secure if the papers are there.

I agree about the papers are really not necessary if you love whoever you want to be committed to,
and of course if you trust each other,
but on the other hand -- without the papers, it's sort of like just messing around.. you can always turn your back at anytime..
I personally prefer papers,
it'll make me happy to look at it and say "Hey, we're married! (Finally!~)" ^^

having the papers would make everything more offical and and you can take it out and get to say you are married. it would be special

if its juz about being with someone, than living together is fine with me..
but when it comes to planning for the future, having that marriage certificate is imporant

either way is fine, cuz in california if you live with your sig. other for long enough, my law you are married and have just as much rights if you decide to go your separate ways. some rich ppl thought they could avoid a messy divorce by not marrying, but in the end it's the same
