Why is there a need for you to forget your close friend?. I think it would be hard to forget it since you have done a lot of stuff together at the same time you shared almost everything. I think the only thing you should do is try to go out with other people. Do chat with anyone and try to accept that life is full of bittersweet memories. Acceptance is a must inorder for us to forget something.

just give it time. may take alot of time though. find some other people to hang out with and find lots of things to do to keep you busy.
but try not to lose a close friend.

Sounds like you were in my position awhile back. Is it like the friendship between the two of you has faded or just changed? If it's like that, for me it took time for me to forget my best friends. Not that I wanted to, but had to since there was nothing else between us so might as well let go. Since they're not trying, why should I keep on trying?
Anyhow, the more you think about the good times will make it harder for you to forget. Just focus on other things and try not to think about it, it can be hard, but for a while it'll work

I usually just stop contact that person. No more phone calls, emails, or text messages etc. Then after a long time of not having contact with that person, you would come to realize that that person is no longer your close friend. I know this because this type of stuff usually happens to me. I have lost many close friends in the past due to lack of contact.
