I speak Cantonese, but I am not that great. My sister came home from elementary school and refused to speak the language, so my parents made sure it was my first language. But as I grew up, I started speaking in English more and once it came to grade five, I only spoke the language with my grandparents and my mother. I cannot read or write, and thank goodness, my accent is going away. Sure, there are some words that I still can't pronounce and my vocabulary is low, too. Let's just say I can say something like "see-saw" (meaning washroom) without knowing that I am wrong until people tell me that I am. I used to take Cantonese school, but I never paid attention (I had no interest). Now I wish I can read for the sake of liking Taiwanese stuff (not a huge fan of it, but still..).
