is there a way to check the 'appear offline' status on msn?

i know there is a way to check if you're blocked on msn.
but what about 'appear offline'?
is there a way to check if the person is really offline or just appearing to be?
any suggestions?any websites?
p.s. am not a stalker or anything lol i jst need to check something with someone
