2006 HK Music Industry Award Ceremonies Draw to an End
The last Hong Kong music industry award ceremony has drawn to a close. Satisfied, Andy Lau and Eason Chan have disclosed that they will be working hard in the year that lies before them. While Leo Ku, being the ‘big winner’ for the first time, has prompted quite a large scale of discussion.
RTHK Music Award Ceremony, the last award ceremony, was held on Saturday night. The recipients of all awards have been named therefore rumours finally come to an end. The results of the award ceremonies, this year, have been quite average. Being favourites and owning a large fan base, Andy Lau and Eason Chan have clean swept the Male Singer Awards. While Hacken Lee has been crowned the ’06 Album Selling King’ and Leo Ku, taking home 19.5 awards, must thank his hit song ‘愛得太遲’ (Love Too Late) for his success in the Best Song category. Leo Ku has also been awarded the ‘Media Award’ for being the most successful at the award ceremonies this year. The 4 talented male singers have all achieved satisfying results and at the last award ceremony, many exciting scenes emerged.
Well known for his deep thank you speeches, Leo Ku’s speeches were definitely not brief at Saturday’s award ceremony. He talked about there being no enemies among singers and the impact of negative rumours. But the highlight moment of the night was when Leo shook hands with Eason when receiving the ‘Global Best Chinese Song Award’. Leo did not even glance up at Eason as he was staring intently at his award.
Apart from Joey Yung having a reaction to Leo Ku’s win of the ‘Media Award’, the rest of the singers were seen whispering among themselves and neglecting Leo, who was singing on stage. It seemed that the group of singers were showing disrespect towards Leo. But, when the singers were on stage to take photos, Leo and Eason met again. The two began talking about being best friends again. Originally being happy to be interviewed, Leo praised his company for working hard. But when reporters raised the issue of the group of singers ignoring him while he sang, Leo seemed to be quite annoyed and told the media not to be so sensitive.
Eason Chan seemed unbothered that he did not win the ‘Media Award’ and expressed that he is happy with the year’s results.

Why should Eason be bothered that he didn't win the Media Award? I mean, he's won it several times but he's also didn't win it several times. Its not a big thing to him. I think he's happy that instead of having one hit song per year, he has consistently had four hit songs each year in the past two years. Thats something that he cherishes because its hard to get one song on top but when more than one song is acknowledged, he has done his job as a innovative singer. Especially since there is at least two different styles in those four songs.

omg why did they have to be so rude to Leo? Its disrespectful to talk while someone is singing, Even if they don't think he deserves that award they could just keep it to themself. I think Leo deserves to win this award, I mean he did work really hard this year, dispite all the negative rumors about him. I wonder how many of this section is true, i mean they are all professional singers, so they coulnd't be that mean towards one another thats just so unprofessional.....

Leo did deserve to win this, ‘愛得太遲’ (Love Too Late) was indeed a smash hit.
