Andy Lau celebrates his birthday at home in Hong Kong.His greatest wish: For his parents to enjoy good health

Yesterday (27 September) was heavenly king Andy Lau's 46th birthday. In the midst of his busy concert schedule in China, he had found time to return to Hong Kong to spend time with his parents. Andy's elderly mother had just discharged from the hospital, therefore through his spokesperson: Andy's greatest birthday wish is for his parents to enjoy good health. The people he wished to thank most are his parents as well. He also thanks all his fans for their wishes & greetings.

From the reporter's understanding, on the day before his birthday, Andy who is well known as"Ox" was still busy at work. He was with Michael Miao & Eason Chan to attend the press conference for the MV of the theme song of <Brothers>. At the scene, fans were excited to celebrate his birthday in advance and presented flowers & birthday cake. The two good friends even played "cake on the face" with the birthday boy. When asked what his birthday wishes were, Andy had jokingly replied "to be young, handsome & healthy". Later on, he revealed that his mother had recently been admitted into hospital due to high blood pressure. He was very worried "Actually, she had gone for the test 2 months ago. Yesterday she was discharged and we could celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together. However, I did not allow her to eat rice, for fear that her diabetes would reoccur." Andy says he will spend his birthday with his family. "This year's greatest birthday wish is for my parents to enjoy good health, the people I wish to thank most are my family, as well as all my fans who care for me."

Yesterday at 5am on 27 September, Andy had written in his online blog about his "birthday diary". He had expressed that on the night before his birthday, for his upcoming Hong Kong concerts, he was in the recording studio till very late at night. He almost forgot about his own birthday but managed to reach home before 12 midnight. Every year, his colleagues would go to his house for a celebration.

Everyone chatted happily, before we knew it, it was already 3am in the morning! So I quickly got them on their way home. My home filled with laughter, now back to the quietness, I walked quietly to the door of my parents's room. I guess they must be fast asleep! Gave up saying good night to them, and pasted a note on the door saying "Any appointment at noon today? Otherwise, I will give lunch treat at 12pm." Back into my room, my tears almost fell, when I was busy chatting with my colleagues I had missed that "would have been" warm bowl of soup placed by my bedside. Without thinking, I picked up the bowl & enjoyed the soup bit by bit. Yes! The soup was already cold but my heart was warmed! [...]

Andy, who is always surrounded by his family's love, had divulged in his diary that he knew how wonderful it was to be loved. A few months ago, he had done something which could "make more people feel the love". Attached to the diary were 2 photos, one was an application form for adoption of a child whose birthday falls on 27-Sept; the other was a photograph of an African girl. This could be the girl whom Andy had adopted.

After his birthday break, Andy will return to China to continue his series of Wonderful World Tour concerts. He will be performing 2 concerts in Shanghai on 27 & 28 October.
