gamecube games on wii?

so i have a wii and if i want to play gamecube games on it, i have to use a gamecube controller??

Yes and a gamecube memory card to save your data, make sure you plug the controller into port 1, which is situated under the flap on the left side when the console is lay down, the memory card goes in under the smaller flap.
