Can't Start up Nintendo Wii?

I just brought a wii this morning, and tried to install it.
My dad left, so I have to set it up.. Our television does not have the Audio or Video inputs that's required, but the Time Warner Box that is connected seems to.. I've hooked everything up.. but when i click the Power button, nothing happens. The manual says something about input settings, though I have no clue how to get to the settings/use it. Can somone please help.

Okay if you think that you have everything plugged in, make sure you have it plugged into the input in the wall! That is a common mistake. I would wait till your dad gets back, you didn't really give us a lot of details. I think that if it was plugged into the wall the power button would light up even if it wasn't connected to the television.
