Is it okay to purchase a video game (such as PSP or Gameboy or Nintendo Wii/XboX) for my 7-year old daughter?

My daughter is saving a part of her weekly allowance to buy the stuff. The idea of saving money is good but I'm actually having second thoughts on buying, eventhough it will come from her own savings, because it may affect her studies, her mood, not to mention those may be "not-so-good and violent games" for a 7-year old girl. I know mothers would agree with me...

it is ok to buy a DS for your 7 year old daughter and you don't have to mind about those "not-so-good and violent games" because you can buy games separately for your daughter. There are actually quite a lot of kid games that are sports games or educational games. My 3 year old cousin has a DS and she plays all these sports and educational games on it.

yer ds would be a better idea than a psp as it's more suited for kids, psp is targeted at the more mature audience whilst nintendo have always encouraged "family fun"
