Tiger Woods 2007 for ps2 questions?

why aren't i able to use my boost in my swing. I do as it shows in the tutorial, the dot turns red and everything but i can't get it to work. The ball always goes just as far as if i don't do it...also i've never see it do the thing with the camera where it replays the swing three times from different angles when you get your boost like i have seen it do in other versions of the game. Is there something im not doing right?

and putting...is there a better way of putting rather than guestimation. I always have trouble determining how hard to hit the ball. how do you do it?
