PS3 and 1080p...?

I have a PS3 and a 360. I recently dowloaded the demo for Need for Speed Pro street on both systems. I have a 40inch samsung 1080p screen, the PS3 is connected with HDMI and the 360 with component.

The thing is I would expect the PS3 picture to be far superior to the 360 however it is the reverse. The 360 game looks crisp and clear and very impressive, however the PS3 looks like PS2 did on the old tv.

Am i missing something, is there a setting similar to the xbox where you have to tell the PS3 that it is connected to a 1080p tv...? or is it just a poor demo....?

Do you have the PS3 set at the correct resolution?

It can be using the HDMI cable but be set at 720p, 1080i which would not look as good perhaps?
