|

|

The idol group SNSD has transformed into "Marine Girls" this time.
SNSD has announced that on this coming June 25th, they will have a comeback with their second mini-album. On the 15th, SNSD released a photo showing their concept for the second mini-album, and the responses are explosive. In the photo, SNSD is wearing navy uniforms made specially for females, while exuding strong charisma. SNSD, who once represented cuteness and liveliness, is planning to introduce a new image with their charisma.
It is very much expected that with SNSD's transformation into the "marine girl" uniform fashion concept, will set a new trend for Korea once again, not only with their songs, but with their fashion.
SNSD set a "Soshi Gee look" trend in the beginning half of 2009, which spread the 'Gee' syndrome even into the fashion world. An associated party of SNSD hinted that the songs, clothing, concept, and etc, will be very different from their 'Gee' days.
SNSD has raised the bar by making a big hit with their colorful skinny jeans, starting the "Soshi Gee look" during their days of promoting 'Gee'.
On another note, the new upcoming second mini-album feautres charms that only SNSD can show, and contains music that is polished and very finely perfected. SNSD is expected to show the same enormous power that they have showed from their debut "Into the New World", and their other hit songs, "SNSD", "Kissing You", "Baby Baby", and most recently, "Gee".
SNSD shared their thoughts by saying, "We're very happy to come back with new music and performances. We are working very hard to prepare a new look to show everybody, so please be expectant and support SNSD a lot."

Yoon Eun Hye’s Lady Castle set for August |
|
03-07-2009 - by dolphin115
|

It has been a long wait but it's certainly something worth waiting for. Actress Yoon Eun Hye will finally be returning to the small screen with a new CF drama this August after a near 2 years absence with MBC's Coffee Prince.
Yoon Eun Hye will be returning with the drama called Lady Castle which is tentatively set for a 19th August premiere on KBS2TV. Lady Castle will be taking over the spot vacated by the lawyer drama, Partners in the Wed-Thus timeslot if everything goes according to schedule (barring drama extensions, etc). Competing dramas will be SBS's Swallow the Sun starring Ji Sung, Sung Yuri, Lee Wan and MBC's horror drama, Soul, starring Lee Seo Jin.
Lady Castle is a story about 3 daughters and the inheritance left by their father. Their lifestyle is disrupted after a poor man disguises himself as a housekeeper/manager of a rich house with an eye on the family’s hidden slush fund. He falls in love with the haughty second daughter (of three), Noh Yura, played by Yoon Eun Hye. Noh Yura is a lady who possesses a goddess-like beauty. She is strong-headed, selfish and the world revolves around her, where all things must go her way. Yet, Yura is lonely and longs to be loved, and for this, Yura is weak in front of true love and is one who you cannot help but love.
Many have been waiting [insert word] for Yoon Eun Hye's return since MBC's Coffee Prince in 2007 and the delay was partly due to the problems that Lee Kim Productions had been facing with the Park Shin Yang saga. Only Eun Hye has been confirmed for the drama thus far but things are going to be accelerated, with the broadcaster now secured. Most are wondering who will be the guys romancing Eun Hye.

'Uh Oh': American Idol with Chinese Twist |
|

American-born teenager Chloe Wang is seeking for a musical career in China. [Photo: chinadaily.com.cn]
A U.S. music factory has set up shop in China to produce one of the first Mandarin-singing, Beijing-based, all-American pop stars.
The Nettwerk Music Group, which launched megastars Avril Lavigne and Dido, has recently unveiled its latest pop creation: 17-year-old Chloe Wang, who sings in both Chinese and English.
Although Wang's father is Chinese, the American-born teenager grew up in Chicago and did not begin learning Chinese until March this year. She admits the 2008 Beijing Olympics was really the first time she became aware of China.
But language and cultural barriers are no obstacle to her minders and US manager Peter Coquillard believes his young charge is a trailblazer for more young Western performers.
"We haven't done this before," said Coquillard, who produced Chinese Super Girl winner Li Yuchun's second album, "Mine".
"We discovered Chloe's talent in the U.S., but brought her here and wanted to start here. If we succeed, it will open the Chinese market for more foreign entertainers."
No expense has been spared in molding China's new pop princess: She shares the producers of her first album with Madonna, Britney Spears, and Miley Cyrus, and has already launched her first single, "Uh Oh", in both English and Chinese.
To raise her profile among Chinese youth, Wang will soon grace the glossy pages of the Chinese editions of Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan, and last month performed one of her first live Chinese-singing performances in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
Wang also has a full-time language teacher who lives with her in an up-market Chaoyang Park apartment and the teenager is already using Chinese characters to respond to her growing number of fans.
The Chloe Wang experiment is attracting keen interest from international music companies struggling to develop a business model in a nation where most music fans download songs for free.
"It is honestly the hardest place to make money," said Tinnie Chow, another of Wang's managers. "Perhaps money will come in the future if foreign singers can truly connect with their audience in China."
Every year, about 600 new albums are launched in China with international record companies releasing almost half of them. However, Chinese music companies do not rely on CD sales to generate profits and consider sales of 150,000 copies a success. In the West, CDs from major stars, such as Lil Wayne and Coldplay, sold more than 3 million copies last year.
Instead, Chinese music stars make money through live concerts, mobile phone ring tones, advertising deals and special appearances.
Universal Music releases about 100 CDs in China every year, and although the company would not reveal sales figures, it said sales were profitable because of what it said was the lack of depth in local music.
"The Chinese pop music industry does not have great variety, so music fans turn to non-Chinese pop music," said Liang Dandan, Universal Music's assistant marketing manager of International Repertoire.
"This helps some global music companies to bring in some singers."
Hit FM radio station music editor Reaf Zhang agreed, saying the industry lacks a stable of world-class superstars, giving opportunities to newcomers like Chloe Wang.
"Once we cannot find local singers, we eye foreign pop singers who come here to develop their singing careers," he said.
Although Wang is one of the first American pop stars to launch her career in China, Korean stars have come, soared and conquered before.
Actor-cum-singer Lee Seung-Hyun became famous in Korean pop band Take, but is now more active in Chinese TV programs.
Kim Hee-Seon has released Chinese songs and appeared in Jackie Chan's blockbuster "The Myth".

Lee Dong-gun enlists next month |
|
03-07-2009 - by dolphin115
|

With the year half-over, expect more 28-year-old actors to cram in last projects and head off for their mandatory military service, since 1981-ers who have not yet completed their requirement will have to fulfill it this year. Actor and singer Lee Dong-gun has announced that he will be heading off to serve in active duty next month.
Lee recently received his papers and will go without further postponement. His last event as an entertainer will be a fanmeeting to take place on July 18 in Seoul. In contrast with some actors who have busily packed their last months with project after project, Lee has kept fairly under the radar over the last year, ever since wrapping 2008’s MBC drama series When Night Comes (aka Every Night) with Kim Sun-ah. He did release a single album in Japan, but hadn’t really had the chance to do much promotional work for it. The only time he surfaced in the news recently was when it became known he is dating A Star’s Lover actress Cha Ye-ryun.
Meanwhile, actors who have headed off this year for army duty include Lee Jin-wook, Jo In-sung, Kim Jae-won, and Jo Seung-woo. Those yet to enlist who are expected to do so soon include Kim Rae-won, Lee Ki-woo, and Jo Han-seon.

Kim HyunJoong : “I was not admitted in hospital for a week, have finished medical treatment on 8th” |
|
03-07-2009 - by dolphin115
|

The news that SS501 Kim HyunJoong to be admitted to hospital turns out to be groundless.
Kim HyunJoong’s company representative said to Newsen on 16th through a phone conversation “It is not true that he has been admitted to hospital. His condition is not good with flu symptoms and his waist is aching on 8th, so he received medical treatments in the hospital and seems like there was a misrepresentation in the reports.”
He added “Kim HyunJoong had been busy with his schedules even after the filming of ‘Boys Over Flowers’, thus not able to have a good rest. In addition, he has not fully recovered from the injuries suffered in the car accident during the filming of the drama. He is currently resting at home with not much schedules on hand.”
He explained more “The Thailand concert was cancelled was we can’t work out on the flight arrangement, etc. We have to fly through Bangkok to reach Koh Samui, so the time constraint will make it difficult for us to finish our schedule. We have postponed the Thailand promotional activities to later half of this year.”
He added “He went home immediately after receiving medical treatment at the hospital on 8th. I hope the fans would not have any misunderstanding.”
Meanwhile, SS501 will have a rest this week and from next week onwards, they will take on activities such as CF filming, etc. And they will be preparing for their Asia Tour concert that starts from August onwards.

Daniel Henney exclusive interview: Most wants to act in a romance film with Zhang Zi Yi |
|
03-07-2009 - by dolphin115
|

In the movie "Wolverine" acting as agent zero is the mixed race Korean star Daniel Henney, the previous day he arrived in Shanghai to attend the Shanghai film festival opening ceremony. When receiving the interview he expressed that filming "Wolverine" was like a dream come true and he most wants to collaborate with China's film star Zhang Zi Yi, wishing he could act out a beautiful romantic film.
In the film Daniel Henney plays wolverine's arch nemesis "agent zero", this is also another attempt for Korean actors to break into Hollywood. Regarding the acceptance of this film role Daniel very inspiring said " I am a X-men fan, you can say that I grew up watching this, so being able to act as one of the characters, is like a dream and at the same time I feel very lucky. Being able to work with so many good Hollywood actors in the film allows me to learn and progress".
Previously the majority of Chinese fans through the drama "Kim Sam Soon" came to acknowledge Daniel, and within "Kim Sam Soon" playing the handsome character compared to "Wolverine" he plays a more mature and cold character. Regarding the breakthrough of this role, Daniel said "playing a character that's very romantic isn't that bad but for an actor playing the villain it might give them more room to express because playing a villain there is no restrictions, allowing you freely to express it, so you can act how you want to, but playing the handsome guy you have to stick to the same direction not allowing you to whole heartedly act it out".
Continuing to wait for a good script
Entering first in the industry as a model there hasn't been too many productions featuring Daniel, he said he is waiting for a good script, " actually there has been many reasons why I haven't taken on that many films and dramas, but the most important is that am still waiting for a good script. In Korea everyday there is a new drama that comes out, and being in America I have little chance watching them so am still waiting for a good script and production".
Being a Korean artist, Daniel expressed in the interview that being a Korean artist there are extreme pressures, and having been raised in America he had never come across such problems before " In Korea, in a family the son's and daughter's success signifies the success of the whole family, so some actors and singers if they fail then this signifies that overall they are all failures, but for me it's not the same, if my acting career doesn't go to well I can go back to my home in America, to work at a golf course or a petrol station. I don't envy those celebrities in the acting business that are really successful and earn a lot of money".
Wants to act in in romantic film with Zhang Zi Yi
Talking about being an actor in Korea and breaking through Hollywood is very different, Daniel indicated that they each have their advantages, " in Korea the shooting feels more personal, the actors and the production team when working feels like a family working together. In Hollywood everything is timed and planned out, so everything progresses in order accordingly, so what ever time they decide to start shooting is the time they'll start shooting, of course the good point about this, is that your private time is protected".
Daniel has also expressed he is willing to come to China to develop, to work with Chinese directors and actors, one of the female celebrities he wishes to collaborate with is Zhang Zi Yi, " 7 years ago we worked together in an advertisement, at that time I was only a model and she was already a superstar but she didn't act all superior at all, treating people and handling affairs in a very friendly manner. I remember that we had to shoot a kissing scene, she had to kiss me, I was really nervous but she helped to relax my mood.
When Daniel found out that Zhang Zi Yi was going to attend tonights Shanghai film festival opening ceremony he felt very shocked, " I really look forward to when I will be able to collaborate with her again, it would be the best if I could shoot a romantic movie with her. Right now her English level has really improved very fast, being able to speak the same language to communicate the feeling will definitely be really great".
Anticipating love, talks about the criteria for the other half
Not long ago, Daniel for his parent's 31st wedding anniversary prepared a trip to Paris, in the interview he also said he really wants a relationship just like his parents. Apart from work he likes to go fishing, play the guitar and go traveling. He also suggested he really wishes to have a girl to accompany him to go travel the world " Everyone hopes to find someone that loves them and will accompany them for the rest of their lives, I also hope for this. She has to be easy to get along with, respect my family, passionately love traveling but the most important point is they must love dogs because in my house I've adopted dogs".
