accounting's like..basic math. you just hafto understand the concepts, know how to add & subtract lol.
you'll start out doing everything on balance sheet papers then you'll end up learning how to calculate everything in the computer, but learning it's part of the class.

Aside from simple addition and subtraction you occasionally have to calculate percentages, which is just multiplicatiion and division. So as long as you know how to divide, multiply, subtract and add you'll be fine in the math department. And you always have your calculator.
the concepts of the balance sheet equation and other general principles are more important.

Accounting involves only very basic math skills such as add, subtract, mulitply, and divide. Also, there isn't much computer skills involved unless you use accounting software. Basically, you really need to know the rules ad how to record journal entries into the accounting books. Of course, there is also more complex accounting subjects.

the numeric part is easy, very basic mathematics... it's the theory side that kills you. believe or not there are numerous theories developed by lifeless accountants who wanted the world to know there's more to accounting than just numbers. you will hear alot about the principle-agent theory, the game theory, and various behavioural theories. added to this, you have to know the accounting standards and the booklet itself wieghts several kgs. so don't be fooled to think accounting is easy... it requires alot of hard work to pass the course.
