Try Winrar. its what i use to compress, upload, and to extract other files
just search it

err...i think he means encoding those big-@$$ analog music files into small digital files (like mp3, aac, or wma).

depends on what type of format ur audio file is in. Creative has a pretty good converter, and its free, so, give it a shot. (If u ahve a creative MP3 player, it comes with it).
If you can find it, post again and I'll give u a link.
