I'd just like to say to the members of North Melbourne Football Club and their new management team, well done on your decision to keep the club based in Victoria despite considerable pressure from the AFL executive to relocate to Queensland....
It's about time that the AFL take a long, hard, look at themselves and the way in which they implement arbitrary decisions on behalf of the game without considering either the clubs or the everyday supporter.
I should say here that I don't actually follow the AFL code at all, (although I enjoyed seeing Geelong FC win the grand final for 2007, since I live up that way), but it strikes me that unless the AFL change their ways, the code will continue to suffer a decline in popularity and match attendance.
Football is not supposed to be solely about bottom-line profits.
